How to use modifiers
09/08/2010
Hi!! I’m here with an introduction to the use of modifiers inside of blender 2.5. But… I think that it will be more useful when you see the use of them on practical tutorials that are coming soon :)

Hola, Cesar :) Pulsas Shift+A, y del menú eliges crear un "empty" ;) Luego, en las propiedades de dicho empty, podrás encontrar opciones para que se muestre como un cubo u otras formas, y no como un "axis" ;)
It's an empty, and yes, it's necessary. It controls the array parameters ;)
hi great tutorial and great coverage on all the modifiers, i just want to ask about the cube and the empty with the array modifier, how did you manage to turn your empty into a wire frame cube? cause i added a cubed then i shift+s and cursor to selected then added the empty when i change to wire frame mode all my empty is inside the cube and it is like a star a vertical line and in the middle a horizontal x different than yours, yours is a cube inside a wireframe cube which is your empty mine is different, so how did you do it? thanks, appreciating all your works can't wait to move to the orange tutorials :D
FOR THE ABOVE QUESTIONS :
Shift + A = Select Empty.... (This makes a star thingy, weird, thing, thing , ya kno?)
N = Object window thingy... yes another thingy.
On this window, find the 'Display' Tab.
top right of display tab menu, theres a selection box.... choose box....
TA DARRRR.... you have a 'wireframe box thingy'
I honestly have been trying follow your instructions for the past half hour but frankly I have no idea what thingy's are. Can you (or someone else) please tell me exactly how to create an 'empty' box outside my original box. I have managed to press 'Shift-S' and cursor to selected then 'Shift-A' and Empty however when I press N and see the Display Tab I cannot see any selection box?
I found it in the properties panel of the object. On the right where you created Object modifiers before, next there is another orange cube icon Object, there is a Display submenu. After creating an empty, select here Bounds and choose Box... did you find it? that should be it
Answer to 7:00 to 8:00 problem:
Move cursor to middle of cube (ya know how)
Shift+A>Select "Empty"
Enter Wireframe mode.
See the star shaped wire.Select it and scale so you can see it.Exit Wireframe mode.
Enter Objct data part of Properties and change "Plane Axes" to Cube.
Scale wire cube to outline the solid cube.Voila !
Hi, blendman, not sure what's the problem you're having. There is no problem in using more than one modifier in the modifier stack (as shown in the tutorial).
If you want to apply them, probably you need to have that modifier at the top of the list, because it probably can't be applied while depending from the previous modifier ;)
Hope this helps!
